Thank you for visiting KGS Baseball! We're stoked that you're here! Our names are Kyle Schmidt and Kyle Gray (easy to remember, right?) and we are the founders of KGS Baseball. To put it simply, it is our mission to help you become a more complete baseball player. "Keep the Game Simple" is our tagline and we believe in simplifying the complexities of this game so that you can improve your skills on the field. Whether you're local to Austin, TX, Denver, CO, or a bit further away we are anxious to start working with you to elevate your game.

KGS Baseball is the result of years of baseball experience between two professional players. Now, we want to give back our knowledge of the game to those who will be filling our shoes. We're grateful for the people who did this very same thing for us during our youth, high school, and college careers.

Whether you're looking for defensive development or want to improve your swing, we believe that we can help steer you in the right direction. Read below for more information on us or get in touch with us here! Be sure to check out our CRT Belt 2.0 and Remote Training for catchers in the links above.

Infield and hitting lessons with Kyle Gray occur at 180 Performance Center in Leander, Texas. Kyle Schmidt will resume catching and hitting lessons in Denver, CO in October 2022.

About Background-2.png

Current Catcher - Minnesota Twins

Originally from Smithville, TX, Kyle has had a passion for catching his entire life. After High School, Kyle attended the University of Richmond and became a starter for the Spider Baseball Team. Kyle received his degree from UR in May of 2019.

Following his 2019 season, Kyle was drafted in the 33rd Round of the 1st Year Player Draft by the Minnesota Twins. Kyle finished up the 2022 season with the Wichita Wind Surge (Class AA).

Kyle brings his professional mindset to catching instruction where he encourages modern catching techniques that are used at the highest levels – one knee setups and high-level receptions are his specialty.

That said, Kyle strives to build foundational catchers who are proficient in all aspects of the position. With an understanding of the mechanics of the catching position, players will become familiar with and improve their mobility, receiving, throwing, blocking, setup, and mentality.

Kyle will resume in-person instruction in October (2022) in Denver, Colorado. Kyle's Remote Training option is strictly limited to 5 catchers at any given time. You can learn more about Remote Training with Schmidty here.

Former Infielder - New York Yankees

Kyle’s passion for coaching comes from his gratitude for all the amazing coaches he has had; especially in high school when he played for Action Baseball, collegiately at WVU, and in the New York Yankees organization. Kyle was a 2nd baseman with the Yankees from 2018-2022.

Kyle grew up in Blanco, TX, and was the District 27-2A Player of the year in 2014 for Blanco HS. Additionally, he played for Action Baseball for 6 years prior to playing at WVU.

After high school, Kyle played 3 years at West Virginia University and feels fortunate to have played in the Wake Forest Regional in 2017 while being named an All American in 2018.

Kyle was drafted in 2018 in the 14th round of the 1st Year Player Draft by the New York Yankees. He started his career with Short Season Staten Island. In his 2nd year, he broke spring training with the Charleston Riverdogs in South Carolina and was called up to the Tampa Tarpons towards the end of the season.

Kyle is now heavily involved with Action Baseball Club's player development and operations, and offers limited instructed at 180 Performance Center in Leander, TX.
